The Last Couple of Weeks

Karen and I wanted you all to know that we are perilously low on the non-perishable food front and are actively soliciting donations.  Please keep us in mind when you are grocery shopping by picking up a few items and bringing to the Bin on Saturday between 9 and 10:30 AM.  Share this with your neighbors and friends and maybe they could help us as well! We always need peanut butter and jelly, pancake mix and syrup, canned tuna, mac 'n cheese, Hamburger Helper, etc etc etc.
We are also in need of cleaning supplies including laundry detergent, etc.  Thanks!

We had a great time at our Rocco's Thank You for Being the Best Volunteers in the World Dinner.  For those of you who were unable to come, Teresa took some notes and a bunch of pictures so here's a little recap and then the photos.

Firstly, welcome to our two new members, Mary Kay Cocharo, a good friend of TWC volunteer Lorna Bank, and Aalia Golden who learned about us when Nancy and Geraldine had our Mother's Day sales booth at the Topanga Farmer's Market. Kamakshi Hart also came to our gathering.  Here are a few photos from the evening, courtesy of Teresa (thanks!).

Karen and I were super happy to share the results of our Mothers's Day card sales and this year TWC made just over $6,000.  It was a wonderful effort by all our volunteers and the community so thank you very much.

Due to these great results, it was decided that we should branch into the Father's Day card business and Karen made a dozen cards or so and introduced the idea.  We sold a few at Rocco's and Sue Forbes bought three more so it's a start, right!?  And next year we will get in full Mother's and Father's Day sales mode from Day 1.

And now some photos of Jennifer Babcock's daugter Lucy of
Lucy's Bakeshop Fame! Check out her website...she is amazing!

Lucy chooses a different charity each month to donate a percentage of her
sales to and TWC was the lucky beneficiary for May. Lucy bought the fantastic items below for us to share with a lucky family.
Can you believe how many goodies she got
into the basket?  Ready for baking...right down to a little recipe book
with Lucy's favorite reciples.

        Success!                                                                 Teresa and Lucy

Look at all these goodies!

And then on Friday we had three set-ups in Venice.  Thanks to Holly, Margie and Lorna for joining me and making this one so much fun.  Paula Dove was going to be part of our merry band but her car started spewing oil and had to be towed.  Five kids, three moms and I am sure they will all be very happy.  Here's the evidence...no special order.  These ladies sure know how to fluff and make the simplest things look just so very special. Scroll on down to check out Holly's treatment of the humble paper towel.

Today's Open Bin was fun in no small part because Holly & Catherine were on duty but also because of all the donations.  Volunteers Aalia and Isabel stopped by with some nice things and then Colette Galet brought many, many wonderful donations.  Colette heard about TWC through a friend of Mary Morley's and kindly drove up here with all sorts of terrific household items for us.  She and her husband are moving to Jaipur, India, so she was cleaning house.  She checked with us about what we would take and brought us so many lovely things.  You can see some of them in the picture below!
So generous and so very appreciated.
Bon Voyage, Colette!

Our two gorgeous divas, Catherine and Holly, vamping for the camera.  Amazingly, we got
everything put away and were out of there by 11!  Brava Ladies!!!
